1951 ~ 2026
Cocagne NB- It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roger Albert Melanson, of Cocagne, originally from Moncton, which occurred on Friday, April 10, 2026, at The Moncton Hospital.
Roger was born on March 11th, 1951, and was the son of the late Albert Melanson and the late Marguerite-Anne Melanson (née Daigle).
Roger will be deeply missed by his partner, Marielle Morin Guitard; his daughter, Amy Melanson; and his beloved grandson, Liam Roger Melanson. He will also be fondly remembered by his bonus daughters, Sophia Guitard (Tom) and Jennifer Guitard (Avery), and his step-grandchildren, John and Michael Keleher, and Naomi Johnson.
He is also survived by his brothers, Mario (Ginette) and Gilles (Jodi); his sisters, Nicole Reeves (late Jack), Paulette Gosselin (Roger) and Monique Gaudet (Charles); and his brother-in-law, Marc Arsenault (Kelly), as well as many nieces and nephews.
Roger retired from Transport Canada and went on to enjoy many winters in Florida as a snowbird with Marielle. He had a passion for music, golfing, boating, salmon fishing, sports (a devoted Habs fan), and woodworking projects. In recent years, he especially cherished the time spent with his precious grandson.
Roger was a member of the Boishébert Club in Shediac, where he took great pride in organizing annual golf tournaments and weekly entertainment for the club.
Un bon vivant et fier Acadien.
Roger will be remembered for his warmth, his love of life, and his deep connection with family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Passage Shediac Bridge, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Roger’s memory may be made to the IWK Children’s Hospital in Halifax, NS, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
