The Canadian Museum of History has acquired the world’s oldest known hockey stick.
Known as the Moffatt stick, it was hand made in the 1830’s in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
It was shaped from a single piece of sugar maple.
The museum bought for the stick for $300,000.
Forty-seven year-old Mark Presley was the previous owner – he paid $1,000 for the original – to a retiring barber in North Sydney.
The stick will be featured in the Canadian History Hall in Quebec on July 1, 2017.
It will help celebrate the country rich hockey roots and Canada’s 150th birthday.
