Three New Brunswick Towns Have Smoke-Free Designations

The objective of a smoke free community is not to punish smokers.

St. Stephen, Sussex and Hampton are all designated smoke free communities.

Barbara Walls of the New Brunswick Lung Association tells us they benefit the non-smokers.

She says the second-hand smoke is far more potent than what it being inhaled by the smoker so by enacting these laws you are protecting the non-smokers in your community.

Walls says people think smoke just disapates but it doesn’t because it’s a particulate matter so its settles on clothing and in paint.
