Winter Storm Headed For New Brunswick

It was another record breaking day temperature wise yesterday. Moncton hit highs of 18 degrees, breaking the old record of 17.2 from 1953. We were also the province’s hot spot for a second day in a row. Several other communities broke records as well, including Bouctouche and Point Lepreau.

But Old Man Winter is going to step in tonight, giving Metro Moncton its first real taste of winter later today.

A winter storm warning has been issued for the region with more than 30 centimetres of snow and ice pellets tonight, and an additional 10 to 15 is expected tomorrow.

Weather Network meteorologist Dana Vitesse says the storm is a classic Nor’easter barrelling up the coast, and driving conditions are expected to worsen as the Nor’easter moves in later today and overnight.

It is suggested that you postponed travel until conditions improve. Highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may be slick due to accumulating snow, and visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
