Cap-Pele Man Charged With Assault, Uttering Threats

A Cap-Pele man is facing several charges following an assault in Shediac on the weekend.

Mounties say the suspect entered a home on Main Street in Shediac early Sunday morning and threatened and assaulted the owner, a 55-year-old woman.

The victim got away to a neighbour’s home and called police.

The man fled the area but officers later found him at a home in Pointe-du-Chêne with the help of a police dog.

Romeo LeBlanc, 67, has been charged with assault with a weapon, assault and uttering threats.

He is being held in custody until his next court appearance Wednesday.

Police say the suspect and the victim knew each other.
