The former Garrison building on St. George Street has been officially transformed into the Peter McKee Community Food Centre now that renovations are complete.
Food Depot Alimentaire has been adjusting its shipments to ensure the centre receives enough food.
Executive director Chantal Senecal says the big challenge this summer has been trying to get more food donations.
“We were a little bit surprised by how much food has been going through, how quickly it has been going and how many people have been accessing the food centre,” she notes.
Senecal adds several programs will soon get underway at the centre including the House of Nazareth’s second hand shop which will help with expenses.
