Anglophone East School District will take a closer look this month at how to alleviate overcrowding issues in its north end schools.
A report will be released to the public tonight, outlining options to help solve the issue.
Chair for the Anglophone East District Education Council Tamara Nichol says once the options are released, they’ll look at which is the best one.
She says, “Once we receive the report, the Council will have to determine whether they accept the report, and then decide if the options that are offered are ones that they can move forward with.”
Ernst and Young was hired to look at viable solutions to the problem. A number of options were considered including student reconfiguration, boundary changes or building new schools.
Several schools are affected, including Magnetic Hill, Northrop Frye, Evergreen, Queen Elizabeth and Edith Cavell.
The Ernst and Young report will be released at a special District Education Council meeting being held tonight at Bernice MacNaughton High School at 7pm.
Council will reveal their decision at their next meeting on October 13th.
