Grab your raincoats and rubber boots. About a month’s worth of rain is heading to Southeast New Brunswick over the next 24 hours.
This is not a tropical storm but actually two systems which are merging over the Maritimes.
Environment Canada meteorologist Claude Cote says the heaviest rain is expected later today.
He says, “The brunt of the event will be during the evening and overnight Wednesday into Thursday, that’s when we’re looking at 60 to 80 millimetres.”
We have a rainfall warning in effect currently, and it notes that central and southern regions of the province can expect between 120 to 175 millimetres by Thursday morning.
Residents are advised to keep a close eye on streets and basements. The heavy rain could pose a risk of flooding.
Motorists should also use caution. Water pooling on roads could cause vehicles to hydroplane, if you are driving too fast.
