For the 8th year in a row, Monctonians will “Walk a Mile in her shoes”.
It’s an event that raises awareness of gender based violence, and the funds needed for prevention programs.
As a part of the event, men and women walk down Main Street in high heels.
Spokesperson for YWCA Moncton Marisa Paccini says they are working very hard to end gender based violence in the community.
“It’s something that we strongly believe in, and take a stand in. We’re always encouraged year after year by the number of people who come out and help us,” she notes.
This year’s walk is being held on October 16th, as a part of a week without violence, which is an annual worldwide YWCA initiative.
