At least one poverty group is thrilled with the new premier’s choice for minister of social development.
Cathy Rogers, who was elected in Moncton South, was named to that cabinet post when Premier Brian Gallant’s ministers were sworn in yesterday.
Linda McCaustlin, co-chair for the Common Front for Social Justice, says Rogers is someone who shows a genuine concern for the poor.
McCaustlin says she hopes the Common Front can work with Rogers to make changes to things like minimum wage, social assistance, pay equity and the provincial drug plan.
