Second Potato Found With “Nail-Like” Object Inside

Mounties say a second potato containing a metal object has been reported. Constable Leanne Butler confirms both potatoes were found in different communities in Newfoundland. The potatoes were harvested and packed at a farm in Summerside, PEI. The first potato with a metal – nail like – object was reported to police on Monday. The potatoes have been sold throughout Atlantic Canada and are produced by Linkletter Farms. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is asking people to carefully check their potatoes. RCMP are investigating and are treating the incidents as a form of food tampering. Anyone who finds any foreign metal objects in a table potato is asked to please not throw out the potato, metal object or the bag. If one is found, people are asked to contact the East Prince RCMP at (902) 436-9300.
