1931 ~ 2026

Cocagne, NB – Ronald Melanson, aged 95, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre on May 25, 2026.

Born in Cocagne, NB, March 16, 1931, he was the son of the late Aurèle Melanson and the late Emma Melanson (née Bastarache).

Ronald was a hardworking man in his younger years and had a great passion for music and travel.

He will be sadly missed by his special cousin, Eva Goguen of Cocagne, with whom he resided for the past eight years; and two special cousins: Aldéard Allain (late Georgeline) of Bouctouche and Armand Allain (Azélie) of Fredericton; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Ronald was predeceased by his brother, Normand (2025), and by two sisters in infancy.

The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff of the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre for the care and compassion shown to Ronald during the past two weeks.

A very special thank you to Gisèle Girouard (PSW/support worker) for her exceptional care, dedication, and kindness shown to Ronald over the past three years. Words cannot express the family’s gratitude for your remarkable devotion.

The family would also like to thank Roberte Cormier, who, alongside Gisèle, provided unwavering support and remained by Ronald’s bedside throughout his stay in hospital until his passing.

Visitation will be held on Monday June 1, 2026, at the Saint-Pierre Church slumber room in Cocagne from 2:00 to 3:45, followed by the funeral service in the church at 4:00 p.m.

Donations in Ronald’s memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
