He was the eldest son of the late Placide Durelle and Melinda (Robichaud) of Baie Ste Anne, NB.

He is survived by the love of his life, his beloved wife of many years Peggy (Macdonald). He was a steel worker by trade but was mostly known for being a boxer and being Canadian light heavyweight Champion following in the Durelle tradition. After suffering serious injuries on the job after his boxing career he spent his time making sure his yard was in pristine condition or he would be in his shed tinkering around building things for his grandkids.

Although Rene knew many people in the community, his greatest joy was his wife and daughters who he was deeply devoted to. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his nieces and nephews who were his pride and joy and tell them stories and to hear their stories. Those times will always be cherished and deeply missed.

The family would like to extend it deepest gratitude to Dr. William MacGillvray, Dr. Sabharwal, the staff at NB Extra Mural Nursing especially Melanie and Chad who went above and beyond to provide care and comfort for Rene during this time and the staff at Jean Coutu Pharmacy Mountain Rd for all your help.
