Notre-Dame, NB– It is with heavy hearts that the family of Raymond Cormier announce his peaceful passing in the early hours of April 16, 2026, at his residence.
Born in Notre-Dame on April 5, 1941, he was the son of the late Hector Cormier and the late Ida (Goguen) Cormier.
Raymond will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Gabrielle (Goguen) Cormier of Notre-Dame; his sons: Rheal Cormier (Denise) of Irishtown, Leonard Cormier of Leominster, MA, Lawrence Cormier (Dalana) of Millbury, MA and James Cormier of Providence, RI, his brother Ernest Cormier (Aline) of Saint-Antoine; his sister Beatrice LeBlanc (Ola) of Saint-Antoine; his grandchildren: Cassandra, Curtis, Rachel, Scarlett and Bramm; as well as several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
After getting married and moving to the US, Raymond worked for several years at Dupont in Leominster, MA. He was later employed at Mohawk Wire and Cable in Leominster before retiring and moving back to Canada. He loved hockey and was a big fan of the Montreal Canadiens. Raymond was a very generous and kind man. He devoted many hours to the Comite Historique de Notre-Dame and had a true passion for their work on a commemorative book for the veterans of Notre Dame. He enjoyed occasional trips to the Casino and always had time to try his luck on a few scratch tickets.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Georgina; as well as his brothers: Alphé, Aldege, Clarence, Gérald, Léo and Nyl.
Visitations will be held at Passage~ Shediac Bridge (3754 Route 134, Shediac Bridge, NB, E4R 1T3) on Friday, May 8th, 2026, from 2:00pm until 4:00pm only. A funeral service will then take place in the chapel at 4:00pm.
Donations in memory of Raymond can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to Pépère Boîte à Lunch.
