1932 – 2026

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of John Walter Mackay Miller on October 3, 2026, at Forest Dale Nursing Home. John passed away peacefully, with his loving wife, Rhoda, by his side.

Born in Newcastle, New Brunswick, John was the son of the late John Robert Miller and Danella Mackay Miller. He is survived by his wife, Rhoda; his sister, Jean Jardine (Eldon); his brother, Royce Miller (Mona); his niece, Valerie Thackray (Mike); and his nephew, Robert Miller (Kathy). In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Dawn and Hazel, and his brother, Hugh.

John enjoyed a distinguished career in management with CN Rail, spanning more than 37 years. Beginning in Moncton, New Brunswick, his work took him to several provinces across Canada, including Ontario, Quebec, and Manitoba. After retiring from CN Rail, he worked for a further two years with Canac Inc. in Sydney, Nova Scotia.

A man of deep faith and a generous spirit, John devoted much of his retirement to helping others. Through his volunteer work with the Caring Kitchen, he delivered Meals on Wheels to those in need. He was always ready to lend a hand to his neighbours and remained a devoted member of his church, attending services every Sunday until his health no longer allowed it.

In his later years, John made his home at Forest Dale Nursing Home, where he received compassionate care.

John will be remembered for his kindness, his dedication to family and community, his strong work ethic, and his unwavering faith. He touched many lives and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

May his memory be a blessing to his family and friends.
