Gloria Jean Taylor

1941~2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gloria Jean Taylor, age of 85, on August 13, 2026. Born in Chatham Head (Miramichi), New Brunswick, on February 12, 1941, Gloria was the beloved daughter of George Taylor and Jean Malley.

In addition to her parents, Gloria was predeceased by her half-brother Michael Nicol (1993), her brother Gary Taylor (2001), her sister June Saulnier (2004), and her daughter Michelle Lavoie (2007).

She is survived by her sister Shirley Taylor, her half-brother Robin Nicol, her daughters Hélène Mitchell (Lance) and Maryse Robertson (Bruce), her grandchildren Michael Matpan (Emily), Alex Munoz, Zacharie Mitchell, Benjamin Mitchell, Mallorie Mitchell, as well as her great-grandson, Otis Matpan.

She also leaves behind her special cousin Marilyn Dedrick and her lifelong friend, Deanna Drisdelle.

She will be missed by her nieces and nephews: Lisa Lefrançois (Phil), Nicole Gauvin (Luc), Marc Saulnier, Carol McLeod, Donna McLeod, Lawrence Taylor, Brenda Taylor (Chiomey), and John Shane.

Through the hardships of life, Gloria showed great resilience and a practical outlook. She faced challenges with quiet strength and determination, always finding a way forward.

Gloria leaves behind many dear friends who enjoyed her sense of humour, outgoing personality, and generous nature.

Gloria enjoyed and excelled in many types of arts and crafts, from jewelry-making and painting to sewing and crocheting. She made hats for premature babies and outfits for young children.

She held a variety of positions throughout her career, and she was especially proud of her work with the Ontario Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services (Major Case Management) in Toronto, from 1996 to 2006.

Gloria will be lovingly remembered for her warmth, humour, creativity, and generous spirit, and for the many cherished memories she leaves with her family and friends.

As per Gloria’s wishes there will be no visitation at the funeral home.
