A family is walking across the country, in an effort to raise money for programs and initiatives for those affected by cancer.
Jimmy Lefebvre along with his wife, mom and three young children left Grande Prairie, Alberta on May 1st.
They are walking over 57 hundred kilometres across Canada to Prince Edward Island, and their hope is to raise $123,000 to help fight cancer.
Lefebvre says everyone has been touched by cancer in one form or another.
“After watching Dad pass away, back in 2016, from cancer, and knowing that I wanted to do something. I just didn’t know what it was at that time. It’s a bit of a personal challenge, and ending up at dad’s gravesite, it’s a way to remember dad as well.”
He says he knows his dad would be very proud of him and his family, “I can almost see us sitting at the kitchen table and telling me how crazy I am, but also on the flip side, there are little markers and little things along the way, you can always tell when dad’s around and looking over us, that’s for sure.”
The Walk Across Canada will make its way through Moncton Thursday afternoon and Lefebvre says if you spot their trailer, stop by and says hello, and make a donation..
‘If you see the motorhome on the side of the road and want to make a donation, you can. Or you can also go to www.thelfoundation.ca, you can put a donation through there as well,” Lefebvre says.
So far, the L Foundation has raised over $30,000.
Their hope is to arrive in PEI on August 31st.
