After eight days of deliberations, the jury has found Luka Rocco Magnotta guilty in the murder and dismemberment of Chinese engineering student Jun Lin.
The Montreal trial had 10 weeks of testimony which mainly focused on Magnotta’s psychiatriac state at the time of the killing.
The 32-year-old Magnotta pleaded not guilty to five charges and argued he suffers from a mental illness.
He did admit to the act of killing and dismembering Lin and sending his body parts with notes to political parties and schools.
Lin, a 33-year-old Chinese national, was studying at Concordia University when he responded to an online ad that Magnotta posted looking for sex.
