Looking To Climb The Career Ladder? You May Need to Consider Changing Jobs

If you’re waiting around at your current job hoping to get a promotion, well, you might be waiting for a long time.

It turns out that 88-percent of people have to change employers in order to climb up the ladder according to a study by Workopolis called Thinkopolis.

Only 11.5-percent of workers are promoted within an organization and the report shows it takes on average 12 years at three or four different employers to move from an entry-level position to the rank of supervisor or higher.

Tara Talbot of Workpolis says opportunity for career advancement is most often the deciding factor of accepting or leaving a position.
