Firefighters Rescue Pet Rabbit While Battling Rothesay House Fire

Firefighters rescuing a pet bunny from a burning home on Kingswood Drive in Rothesay.

Kennebecasis Valley Fire Platoon Chief Kevin Clynick tells us after being out, the homeowner came back and noticed the smoke detector was going off. After opening the front door and getting hit with smoke and heat, they shut the door and called 911.

He tells us crews quickly knocked down the fire in the living room, which is where the rabbit was found. The two-story building off Highland Avenue sustaining some fire damage but significant smoke damage with Clynick saying everything is covered in soot.

As for the cause, it doesn’t appear that the fire was set on purpose however the fire investigator is still looking into it.
