Codiac RCMP Advise Greater Monctonians To Lock Cars And Hide Valuables

Codiac RCMP say they keep seeing a high number of complaints related to thefts from vehicles this summer.

So far in August, police have responded to 35 complaints of thefts from unlocked vehicles, and 26 incidents where windows were smashed.

In most cases it was to retrieve valuabes in plain view, say the RCMP.

In addition to those calls, police responded to seven complaints of suspicious people seen around vehicles in various neighbourhoods.

Sergeant Andre Pepin says they have increased random patrols, but encourage people to report suspicious activity.

He also urges victims of theft to report it immediately to help with the investigations.

Codiac RCMP are reminding people to lock their vehicles while unattended and keep valuables out of sight, even in your driveway.
