Celebration Of Life For Keith Ashfield

Keith Ashfield will be remembered next month during a celebration of life in Fredericton.

The longtime politician died unexpectedly at his home in Lincoln over the weekend at the age of 66.

Ashfield served in provincial and federal politics from 1999 to 2015 and had recently accepted the PC nomination for the provincial riding of Oromocto-Fredericton-Lincoln.

He was seldom idle, according to his obituary, and it was rare to find him without a saw, hammer, paintbrush or government briefing memo in his hand.

It also says the only place he found genuine rest and relaxation was at the much–loved and often–renovated family camp on Maquapit Lake.

His obituary says he had a “common sense approach” to political issues, “shrewd political judgment” and a “booming laugh”.

The celebration of life will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. on May 6th at the Fredericton Inn.
