CDA Hosts Camps For Kids With Type One Diabetes

Each year, the Canadian Diabetes Association hosts special camps across the country, where the campers who attend all have one special common bond.

They are all living with Type 1 diabetes.

This summer, hundreds of kids between the ages of 7 and 14 had the opportunity to attend.

Coordinator Rheal Williams says they all have stories they can share with each other, relating to diabetes, “There’s a lot of discussion within cabin groups about diabetes and their personal experiences. Camp is a great place to improve upon build their independence with diabetes management. We have a lot of teachable moments.”

Camps are held in several provinces, including Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, PEI, and Ontario.
