A vast majority of Canadians believe men and women make equally good leaders, according to a new poll from Angus Reid.
However, despite 84-percent agreeing with that statement, men hold the majority of political leadership positions across the country.
Research shows women occupy an average of only 25-percent of the MP, MLA or member of Municipal Council positions Canada wide.
Nearly six in ten Canadians say getting elected to high office is easier for men, with 38-percent saying it is equally difficult.
The poll reveals 40-percent of Canadians blame political parties for not doing enough to encourage female candidates to run.
Family commitments came in two points behind as a reason more women were not entering politics.
