Canada Post Work Stoppage Possible This Week

A postal strike is possible later this week as Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers remain at an impasse.

The two sides have been stuck on pensions and wages during negotiations to reach a new collective agreement.

Moncton CUPW spokesperson Linda Campbell says the union may provide warning of a walkout later this week.

“You have to give a 72-hour notice, whether it is the union or the corporation if there is going to be a labour interruption,” says Campbell.

Canada Post could decide to lockout workers later this week which would effectively halt the postal system.
