Four Atlantic Premiers And Federal Politicians Meeting In P.E.I.

Political worlds are colliding in Prince Edward Island as federal politicans meet with the Atlantic Premiers.

This meeting is the second of its kind this year with the other having taken place back in February. There are a few areas of focus for the talks including creating a regional approach for things like immigration and a skilled labour market, clean growth and climate change, and infrastructure. A government of New Brunswick release says the highlights of the talk will be how to improve the regional economy and population growth.

Federal politicans involved in the meeting include Lawrence MacAuley – minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, John McCallum – treasury board president, Dominic LeBlanc – Fisheries Oceans and Canadian Coast Guard minister, Navdeep Singh Bains – Innovation, Science and Economic Development minister, and Judy Foote – Public Services and Procurement minister.

New Brunswick premier Brian Gallant says that cooperating as Atlantic Canadians is crucial to the region’s economy.
