Atlantic Canadian Conservative Disappointed By Cabinet Shuffle

The Conservative Shadow Minister for Atlantic Canada says the prime minister has made it abundantly clear that he doesn’t care about the region.

Rob Moore says it’s already bizarre the minister responsible for ACOA is based in Greater Toronto and now the region has lost another important portfolio.

“So it was disappointing to see the fisheries (portfolio) go outside of Atlantic Canada as well and to see the appointment of someone from the West Coast as the fisheries minister rather than someone from Atlantic Canada,” he notes.

Moore says he’s worried about any further measures from a new minister which may impact so many in this region who rely on the fishery for their livelihood.

As a former Fundy Royal Conservative MP who was also minister for ACOA, Moore adds it’s important to have someone from here in the regional development portfolio who understands the region.
