How important is it to you that your child get an arts education?
Town halls being led by ArtsNB are have been held in several New Brunswick communities and another is planned in Moncton tonight.
Executive Director for ArtsLink New Brunswick Gillian Dykeman says they are conducting a review of arts education in the Anglophone districts.
“We want to know what is going on in your school district. We want to know what is working well, and also what we can do better as a province to create access and promote access to an arts education.”
Dykeman says, “This includes learning music, dance, theatre, physical arts, and learning through the arts and looking at ways that the arts can be applied to better teach creative problem solving, to better teach the fundamental skills that are needed to encounter the world as it is today. Some schools have great access, whereas others do not. They want to make sure that all students have equal access.
Tonight’s meeting gets underway at 6pm at the Moncton Public Library.
