Appeal By Fred Prosser To Be Heard Today

The New Brunswick Court of Appeal will hear an appeal today from Frederick Bernard Anthony Prosser.

The Shenstone man was found guilty in December of 2012 of the first degree murder of a Riverview woman, and also of sex assault and sex assault causing bodily harm.

He was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 25 years.

Media reports say Lawyer James Matheson filed the notice of appeal on behalf of Prosser, calling the conviction a miscarriage of justice.

Prosser wants the convictions set aside and judgements of acquittal entered. If that isn’t granted, he wants the appeal court to quash the convictions and order a new trial.

The victim, Sabrina Patterson, was reported missing in October of 2010. Her body was found about a week later in a wooded area near Prosser’s home.
