The Anglophone East District Education Council will make recommendations tonight on whether or not to close the doors at Riverside Consolidated School at the end of the school year.
Two sustainability studies were done over the past few months on Dorchester and Riverside schools. Last week, the Council voted to keep Dorchester open for at least another year.
Spokesperson for the Riverside Parent School Support Committee Dan Sinclair says they remain cautiously optimistic for tonight’s decision.
Riverside school currently has 46 students and operates at 28 per cent capacity. Enrolment is expected to decline over the next 10 years.
Tonight’s meeting is being held at Bernice MacNaughton High School starting at 7pm.
