Agriculture Minister Proud Of Technological Innovation And Adaptation By Farmers

The provincial Agriculture Minister says New Brunswick farmers are doing a fantastic job incorporating technological advances into their business model.

Rick Doucet says agriculture is so well suited to tech adaptation, it’s great to see local farmers jumping on board.

He says the potato industry is a good local success story.

“They’ve maximized their production in an incredible manner to get a higher yield, greater value for their product, so it’s those types of things and you’re seeing that with many other types of products too,” says Doucet.

Doucet says those other products include the dairy, soybean, and entire aquaculture industries.

“From the automation of the dairy farm operations, to the milking, the work they’re doing with the potato farm, the soybean,” says Doucet. “You know, there’s just a number of opportunities that they’re really maximizing every square inch of land they have.”

Doucet says his Department recently released a manual to give anyone who wants to be a farmer a step by step guide of how to reach that goal.
