Students Elect Liberal Gov’t In Mock Election

While the future of the provincial government remains a fluid situation, the results from the student vote on Monday were definitive.

Over 24,000 elementary, middle and high school students cast ballots in the Student Vote program.

In the mock election, the Liberals formed a majority government with 26 seats, the Progressive Conservatives are the opposition with 16 seats, while the Greens won four seats and the People’s Alliance won three.

Leading up to election day, students learned about the electoral process and spent time researching the issues and platforms before voting themselves for the official candidates in their riding.

A total of 175 schools took part representing all 49 ridings.
