Putting Up Win Against Sea Dogs In Homeopener Felt ‘Really Good’: Roszell

A sellout crowd of 8,800 watched the Moncton Wildcats chalk up a win in their homeopener against rivals, the Saint John Sea Dogs Saturday.

Wildcats broadcaster Tim Roszell says the feedback from fans was very great, with many positive impressions of the one bowl design.

“It’s always fun to be part of a homeopener to begin with, but when you’re opening a brand new facility in such a great hockey market like Moncton is, the fans really embraced the new building and they were really, really excited to be a part of it,” says Roszell.

Specifically, he adds the ‘one bowl’ design feature received considerable praise.

“The sight lines are very good, the press box area which is my main area of concern is state of the art, and is absolutely fantastic for my needs, and the needs of my colleagues up there.”

Roszell spent 12 seasons as the play by play announcer for the Sea Dogs, and after he and the team parted ways back in March, the Wildcats snapped Roszell up.

He says “for my new team, it felt really, really good” to win the homeopener.

“It was really nice to be able to put up two points, and it felt very good to do it against a team that I know all too well,” continued Roszell.

Roszell says while there are undoubtedly a few things that need to be tweaked for Wildcats games going forward, the homeopener was a huge success.
