NB Southern Railway Pleads Not Guilty To All Charges Relating To The Lac Megantic Rail Disaster

A lawyer representing NB Southern Railway pleading not guilty to all 24 charges relating to the deadly Lac Megantic rail disaster of 2013.

According to Transport Canada, the violations with the transportation of oil occurred between November 3rd of 2012 and July 5th of 2013.

Irving Oil plead guilty to 34 charges back in October and was ordered to pay almost $4 million for research programs in the field of safety standards under the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act and its regulations.

A trial for JD Irving is scheduled for October on two charges under the Occupational Health and Safety act. They plan to enter pleas in July.

The NB Southern Railway matter has been adjourned until June 4th.
