A Progressive Conservative MLA is questioning how the Gallant Liberal government is handling the issue that has led to the suspension of House Speaker and Moncton Centre MLA Chris Collins for allegations of harassment.
Rothesay MLA Ted Flemming tells our newsroom the Premier called an urgent media teleconference Thursday evening at 6:30 even though he was aware of these allegations since mid-February.
Flemming says the place this should have all been dealt with is in the Legislature.
“It was summarily closed by the government after four days when it was scheduled to sit you know for nearly four weeks,” says Flemming.
“We now have no ability to ask any questions through question periods, through motions, through requests for information.”
PC leader Blaine Higgs says the premier managed to hold a day and a half of photo ops with no mention of this but then suddenly held that emergency teleconference.
