Dieppe City Council also adopted its 2017 budgets, with a tax rate increase of 1.5 cents.
That means, the average homeowner with a house assessed at $185 thousand, will see their property tax rise $37 a year.
The budget totalled just over $66 million. $53.5 million of that goes to the general operating budget, while $12.7 million is for water and sewer.
Dieppe residents will also see an increase in their water and sewer rates of $16.
Mayor Yvon Lapierre says some of the the major projects planned for the coming years include the replacement of the Centennial Arena, the Francophonie Games in 2021 and additions to the roads along Dieppe Boulevard due to the opening of a new school, and that means they have to act cautiously with their budgets.
