Fidel Castro, Former Cuban President, Dies At 90

Cuba’s longest serving president has died at the age of 90.

Fidel Castro passed away last night.

His younger brother and current Cuban President, Raul Castro, confirmed the news in an announcement Friday night.

Fidel Castro took over government in 1959 until his health deteriorated in 2008.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says Castro was a larger than life leader who served his people for almost half a century.

He called Castro ” a legendary revolutionary and orator”, who made significant improvements to the education and healthcare of his island nation.

Trudeau says Castro was known for his tremendous dedication and love for the Cuban people.

He says he joins the people of Cuba in mourning the loss of the remarkable leader.
