Surgical Program Closing At CCH This Summer

Facing the inevitable — the Charlotte County Hospital is officially losing its Operating Room.

The announcement coming from Horizon Health today that the surgical program in St. Stephen will close permanently on August 8th.

With the closure, five operating room staff will be layed off, including four nurses and an environmental service employee.

Surgical services requiring a general anesthetic will be done at other Horizon locations, however, minor procedures using local anesthetic will continue to be offered in the ambulatory clinic.

President and CEO of Horizon Health John McGarry says the closure is due to low volume.
