Current Anglophone East District Education Council Meets For Last Time Tonight

The current term for the Anglophone East District Education Council, will officially come to an end tonight.

Outgoing members will meet for the last time tonight.

DEC Councillor Angela Lawson, who was re-elected, is looking forward to working with the newly elected Council, “I’m looking forward to it being a really productive four years, and looking forward to some new points of view on the District Education Council and working with some new people so we can break new ground.”

Lawson says there is one thing in particular, that she is proud to say they accomplished in the past four years, “We’re really lucky to have had a past Councillor, who will not be returning next term, who was the driving force behind us being the first District with a mental health policy. I’m looking forward to new initiatives like that.”

This will be Tamara Nichol’s last night as Chair for the District Education Council, and Lawson says a new Chair will have to be voted on, “We’ve got new members coming on, but many do not know much about their position on council. They’ll be able to think about it over the summer, and may choose to put their name forward for the position.”

The first meeting of the next District Education Council will be held in August or September..
