Greyhounds Looking For Forever Homes

Fourteen greyhounds have just arrived in Canada, and are now looking for their forever home.

They just got here yesterday, thanks to the Maritime Greyhound Adoption Program.

President and Founder for MGAP Deb Levasseur says, “Most of the dogs come from Florida, and some come from Alabama. They’re retired racing dogs and they can be anywhere from 18 months old up to 5 years old and they can live to be up to 13 or 14 years old.”

Levasseur says their group goes to the United States several times a year to rescue greyhounds.

She say, one of the best things about them is their personality, “They’re so in tune to people, they’re so calm, and they’re so affectionate. The dogs are very easy to train and they’re easy to be around.”

She says the dogs are rumoured to be a lot of work, because they are race dogs, but that’s not true. They’re actually often referred to as the world’s fastest couch potato.
