A two year investigation by conservation officers culminating in big fines and jail time for violating the Fish and Wildlife Act.

A father and son who ran the meat shop on Richibucto Road near Fredericton received the stiffest penalties. The father was fined 48 hundred dollars and sentenced to 21 days in jail. The son received a fine of more than 12 thousand dollars and 35 days in jail.
Four people convicted of buying the illegal meat were each fined over 11 hundred dollars and sentenced to seven days in jail.
