Coalition Meets With NB Education Minister

New Brunswick’s education minister met with a group of parents and community members in Fredericton yesterday, who are worried about losing their rural schools.

Dan Sinclair, with the Riverside Consolidated parent school support committee, says a newly formed coalition wants Minister Serge Rouselle to look at Nova Scotia’s example.

He says, “It provides a bit more time for the community to collaborate and bring things together. By bringing other resources into the school it would contribute to the operating costs.”

Sinclai adds the coalition also wants a provincial moratorium on school closures and a review of Policy 409 which covers closures in New Brunswick.
