A new fire station in northeast Moncton is expected to open by the middle of next year.
Moncton City Council has awarded a 3.2 million dollar contract to J.W. Lindsay Enterprises Limited to build the new fire station on Caledonia Road, off Elmwood Drive.
However, the land purchase is still being negotiated between the city and the property owner.
Ground is expected to be broken this spring with an opening date in 2016.
The McLaughlin Drive fire station, which now serves the neighbourhood, has reached the end of its lifespan.
