CTF Says State Of Province Address Lacked Solutions On How To Tackle NB Debt

The Canadian Taxpayers Federation is also responding to this week’s State of the Province address by Premier Brian Gallant.

Atlantic Director with the Canadian Taxpayers Federation Kevin Lacey says they are glad that the Liberal government has recognized the dire situation that the province is in financially.

He says, “He is pleased to see that he is going to take hard decisions to address it, but there was nothing in the speech that shows us exactly what the Premier is going to do to solve them.”

Lacey says what the government is spending now is unsustainable, and it needs to make some changes before the province is driven higher and higher into debt.

Lacey says they would have liked to have heard a commitment from the Premier that this government will not raise taxes, and will also not implement road tolls.

He says they need to address government spending first before anything else.
