NB Green Party Leader Encouraged By Premier’s Plan To Address Literacy Issues

One element of the State of the Province that made Green Party Leader David Coon happy was the drive to improve literacy and education across New Brunswick.

Coon says it is well past time where this should be a focus for government and it’s not just about engaging with students, but engaging the whole family.

He says, “There are great examples where that has been done effectively over a period of time, so a family based approach to improving literacy is really the key to addressing this once and for all.”

However, Coon was critical of Gallant saying the tangible actions announced in the speech didn’t come close to matching up with the ambition of what the premier was hoping to accomplish.
