Hockey moms and dads will flock to the Moncton Coliseum this weekend, as their kids take to the ice for the 25th annual Timbit Tournament.
More than 1300 children between the ages of 4 and 8 years old from 12 hockey associations across the province take part.
President for the Moncton Minor Hockey Association Brian Gaudet says Tim Horton’s is a major contributor to minor hockey across the country. They not only supply jerseys, for the initiation and novice levels, but also cover the cost of clinics for coaches.
The tournament runs until Sunday, and once it is all over, every player gets a medal, and also the opportunity to take part in the Parade of Champions, that sees each child skate around the ice during the Moncton Wildcats games on Saturday and Sunday.
