Anglophone East hopes to know soon how to solve overcrowding issues at a north end school.
Superintendent Gregg Ingersoll says they are looking at the possibility of adding portables at Norththrop Frye school, and they’re hoping to hear shortly whether or not that is a possibility.
He says something has to be done before September, “Based on our enrollment numbers, all of the students will not fit into that school next year. Next September, we are really going to be in a bad situation because we will need at least five more clasrooms than we have this year.”
A second option would be to look at redrawing the boundaries, but the district will then have to look at where the students will go to school, and will have to accommodate because they will be travelling further distances than currently.
The third option, is a new school for the north end, which may be something the provincial government will be forced to look at in the future.
