A four-year-old Moncton boy with leukemia is in need of a bone marrow transplant, and his family is hoping a match will be found soon…
Damon Shea-Caissie of Moncton was diagnosed in July of 2012. In his last year of treatment, his cancer relapsed, and he will now need to go to Toronto Children’s Hospital for a tranplant.
His mom Elizabeth Shea says they’re unsure of when the surgery will be done.
She says, “They are still looking for a match for his bone marrow transplant, because I was not a match for him. They have opened up a search across Canada for him and they are busy looking for a match for him.”
She is hoping a match will be found soon, so he can have the surgery by March.
His recovery is expected to take upwards of nine months.
Friends have set up a fundraiser in support of Damon and his family.
