Codiac RCMP Investigating Bank Robbery

Codiac RCMP are investigating the robbery of the Caisse Populaire earlier this morning.

Staff Sergeant Maurice Comeau says a man walked into the bank at 26 Churchill Street around 10:15 this morning and handed a teller a note demanding money and claiming he had a weapon.

No weapon was actually seen, and no one was injured during the robbery and the man left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Comeau says the circumstances surrounding his flight from the bank were a little unusual.

“He left the bank apparently and took a taxi cab and made his way to the Canadian Tire on Mountain road where he was dropped off by the cab,” says Comeau. “And then that’s where last he was seen.”

Comeau says the man was not wearing a disguise and the investigation is ongoing.

The man, believed to be in his late 40’s or early 50’s, is Caucasian with a dark moustache. He is described as being short with a medium build. He was wearing a red, parka style coat with a dark toque.

Anyone with information about this robbery is asked to contact Codiac RCMP at 857-2400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or on the web at crimenb.ca.
