Psychiatric Evaluation For Accused Murderer Matthew Tucker

A psychiatric assessment has been ordered for a 34-year-old St. Stephen man.

Matthew Linus Tucker looked clean shaven and unemotional this afternoon in St. Stephen, wearing a grey long-sleeved shirt, in a packed courtroom filled with media, and friends and family of the victim.

He has been charged with 2nd degree murder in the death of his mother, 53-year-old Dorothy Tucker.

Her body was found by two hunters in a wooded area in St. David Ridge, just outside of St. Stephen, on November 20th. She had been reported missing on November 10th.

Judge Henrick Tonning requesting Tucker spend 30 days at the Restigouche Hospital Centre in Campbellton to determine his fitness to stand trial, and to determine if he was criminally responsible at the time of Dorothy Tucker’s death.

He will return to court January 16th, 2015.
